Jason Leitch says he hopes Scotland supporters WILL be inside Hampden during Euro 2020

NATIONAL clinical director Jason Leitch says he is confident fans will be back in stadiums by the time Scotland return to the first major finals in 23 years.

Steve Clarke’s men face Hampden group matches with the Czech Republic and Croatia next summer along with making the short journey to Wembley for the showdown with the Auld Enemy England.

While Leitch reckons there are too many variables to know whether Hampden will be sold out as it would have been before the pandemic, recent advances with developing a vaccine mean that he is ‘relatively confident’ that some fans WILL be back in Mount Florida come next June.

Leitch told BBC Off the Ball: “The Euros give a number of levels of challenge, because it isn’t all in Scotland. The present plan is to play it in 12 countries and 12 different stadia.

BRAEHEAD Soar in Glasgow was evacuated after a fire broke out in an electrical box.

Fire crews were called out to the activities centre in Renfrew at 1:26pm today.

People were seen rushing out the building as four fire engines raced to the scene.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said it was a small fire in an electrical box which was extinguished before the engines got there.

A SUSPICIOUS package has seen staff evacuated from a Royal Mail sorting office in Edinburgh – with bomb squad cops called to the scene.

The alarm was raised around 10.25am this morning after the discovery at the facility on Ciltins Road in the capital.

Cops say that the building has been partly evacuated.

But there isn’t believed to be a wider threat to the community.

A FURTHER 36 Scots have died from coronavirus overnight, the Scottish Government has confirmed.

A total of 1,118 new Covid-19 cases have also been registered in the last 24 hours.

The latest figures take Scotland’s coronavirus death toll to 3,280.

There have been more than 200 deaths this week alone, with 165 in just three days.
