Letter: ‘Card arrived 32 days after posting, it’s not good enough’

His letter included the following: “Post continues to be delivered and those who have mail and do not receive it on the day they expect, will be prioritised, the next working day.”

The statement made above is certainly not supported by my personal experience!

I live on a major road in Andover and over the past few months, we have tended to receive mail once a week at best.

A birthday card and Father’s Day card sent on June 22 and 27 arrived on July 24 – 32 and 27 days after being posted, along with 26 other envelopes, some of which were also overdue, including important letters from NHS, etc.

The postal system in Andover has been absolutely terrible over recent months and I am sure that many readers will share my concern and frustration, as letters arriving later can result in significant problems.

Generally, due to the recent problems, I don’t use the postal systems very much anymore and rely on more reliable forms of communication such as email or hand-delivery, if local!

I fully appreciate that the local sorting office has had staffing problems but the ongoing effect has been much greater than that indicated by Anthony Thorpe.
