LETTER – The loss of Southampton post box to my problems

I HAVE been a resident of the Peartree area of Southampton for over 60 years and for all of these years, I have posted our letters in Post Box that was positioned a the junction of Peartree Ave / Gainsford Road (Outside of Jonathan Terry, Funeral Directors Premises).

This morning Friday November 20, I found much to my surprise that the post box had been removed and not relocated somewhere nearby; The BT phone box which was positioned next to the post box is still there.

I fully appreciate that we are living in very difficult time, however, did it not occur to some person from Royal Mail, to have the sense to put a notice on the box to fore warn its users that the was to be removed, this is not good customer service.

I am nearly 80 years of age and a person with reduced mobility and the loss of this posting box will add to my problems.

In fact it means a bus journey either to Woolston or Bitterne.

I am sure there must be a location nearby where it could have been relocated.
