I continue to be amazed at the depths that Boris Johnson, his fellow Conservatives and, indeed, the establishment will stoop to – just to shore up this utter apology for a government.
Covid rules – The plan had been to end them on 24 March, but Boris Johnson has said that if the trends “remain positive”, then the rules could go a month early!
What positive trends? Sadly, as always with Covid, the evidence is unclear and certainly many questions are being asked about the politics of the move, with the PM under continuing pressure. No matter what eh, all hail our wonderful PM – our saviour!
Brexit – our PM has promoted (albeit sideways) Jacob Rees-Mogg to Minister for Brexit opportunities and government efficiency, at a vastly inflated salary (I kid you not), whilst the people of this country are faced with a rocketing cost of living!
Rees-Mogg is the man who said that it could take 50 years, or more, to feel the benefits of Brexit! A job for life then, Jacob?!
Met Police – as I predicted, weeks ago, Cressida Dick has fallen on her sword, in an effort to take the heat off the PM and his, undoubted, partying while the rest of us obeyed the Covid rules.
At best, delaying tactics – at worst, toadying in the most obsequious way! No worry though eh, Cressida as, no doubt, you will gain further recognition from the Tories, in due course!
And all this comes as former PM John Major (a decent man) could not hide his disgust, saying that “Boris Johnson and his officials broke lockdown laws over parties held in Downing Street”.
He accused the government of feeling that it “need not obey the rules”, adding “outright lies breed contempt.” He went on to say that the UK’s reputation was “being shredded”.
For the sake of the UK, Boris Johnson must go now! What say you, Messrs Buckland & Tomlinson?
Cue eerie, but predictable, silence…..!
