Lidl recalls two food products and warns customers that they may cause vomiting

Lidl has recalled two popular fish products in its stores and warned customers that they may be contaminated.

Shoppers are being advised not to eat the products if they’ve purchased them, and instead return them instore. The Food Standards Agency and Lidl GB have issued advice on what customers should do if they’ve been affected by this recall.

There’s a chance that the two trout products have been contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes, which can cause symptoms similar to flu if eaten. The Express has outlined all the information you need to know about the product recall.

The Food Standards Agency (FSA) issued some further information about the recall, saying: “Lidl GB is recalling Deluxe Oak Smoked Scottish Louch Trout and Lighthouse Bay Smoked Trout Trimmings, produced by St James Smokehouse because these products may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.”

It issued a risk statement to those affected by the food recall: “The possible presence of Listeria monocytogenes in the products listed above.

“Symptoms caused by this organism can be similar to flu and include high temperature, muscle ache or pain, chills, feeling or being sick and diarrhoea. However, in rare cases, the infection can be more severe, causing serious complications, such as meningitis.

“Some people are more vulnerable to listeria infections, including those over 65 years of age, pregnant women and their unborn babies, babies less than one month old and people with weakened immune systems.”
