Live updates as police tape off North Staffordshire post office

Police have taped off a town centre post office after an ‘attempted burglary’. A sign has gone up in the window at Cheadle Post Office, based off Tape Street car park, to tell residents it’s currently shut.

This morning and the facility has police tape outside as an investigation gets underway following the overnight incident.

A Post Office spokesperson said: “We can confirm that overnight there was an attempted burglary at the store where Cheadle Post Office is located. The police have attended and we expect that the Post Office will reopen once the police have finished their investigative work at the store.”

We have contacted Staffordshire Police for a statement.
