It was for land to the west of Bankend Road and it will allow five 8m high lighting columns to illuminate the lorry park.
Planning permission was granted on Wednesday (May 7) and a planning report states: “The site is a long strip of land to the west of Parcelforce Worldwide and the DVSA LGV test centre, with a gated access off Brunthill Road and gated egress on to Bankend Road.”
It adds: “The Royal Mail Yard is an operational site primarily used for postal and logistics activities. The site is accessed by staff/delivery vehicles.
“Currently, there is no lighting, creating safety concerns, particularly during evening and early morning hours.
“As such, five eight metre high lighting columns are proposed to be installed to the west boundary of the lorry park.
“Officers do not consider that the proposal would result in adverse light pollution to adjacent businesses within the industrial estate.
“Moreover, the lampposts would be visible in the context of those along the highway, as well as the industrial buildings.
“Consequently, the works are acceptable in relation to visual amenity. In all aspects the proposals are compliant with the objectives of the relevant development plan policies and the application is recommended for approval.”
According to the decision notice planning permission was granted subject to planning conditions.
