Prince Louis stole the show as he gave a cheeky salute to the adoring crowds cheering for his grandad King Charles’s official birthday – as the royal family appeared on the Buckingham Palace balcony.
The King, Kate, William, Charlotte, Louis and George took pride of place in a slimmed-down group of royals as they watched a magnificent 70-aircraft flypast.
Five-year-old Louis was seen saluting as he waved at crowds to celebrate the Trooping the Colour parade.
The adorable royal was also seen throwing his fists in the air and pouting as his mother Kate looked at him with pride and amusement.
On their Instagram page, the royal family reflected on the event, writing: ‘A spectacular flypast of 70 aircraft from @royalnavy, @britisharmy and @royalairforceuk!’
One of the main highlights of the flypast above Buckingham Palace saw 18 Typhoon fighter jets spelling out the King’s monogram ‘CR’ – short for Charles Rex.
As the planes zoomed overhead Kate encouraged Prince George to wave to the crowds as she smoothed down Prince Louis’ hair and urged him to face the crowd.

King Charles saddled up to become the first monarch in more than 30 years to take part in the ceremony as his official birthday parade began this morning.
The King rode onto Horse Guards Parade in Whitehall as the nation’s head of state.
He was joined on horseback by the royal colonels, including the Prince of Wales and the Duke of Edinburgh, riding for the first time in his role as Colonel of the 1st Battalion London Guards, formed last year.
Travelling in a carriage were the Queen, the Princess of Wales, along with Prince George, nine, Princess Charlotte, eight, and five-year-old Prince Louis.
Today is the first time a reigning monarch has ridden on horseback at Trooping the Colour since Queen Elizabeth’s horse Burmese carried her during the 1986 ceremony.
Pomp and pageantry were on display during the military spectacle where the most prestigious regiments in the British Army honoured their Colonel in Chief by parading to mark his anniversary.
The royal party were in the midst of a sovereign’s mounted escort, formed by troops from the Household Cavalry’s Life Guards and Blues and Royals, in their shining breastplates and plumed helmets, and a ripple of cheers followed them when they travelled along The Mall.
Soon after the King arrived on the parade ground the national anthem was played as a mark of respect, and Charles had to steady his horse but it would not settle and a groom stepped forward to help.
The King began the ceremony by inspecting the lines of guardsmen on the parade ground, casting a critical eye over the soldiers, formed in two lines, as he rode past.

William, Anne, and Edward rode behind Charles while Camilla and Kate were in a carriage – a symbolic image of the royal family supporting their King as another milestone was reached.
The Queen and the princess wore contrasting outfits, with Camilla in a red silk dress that took inspiration from her regiment, the Grenadier Guards, while Kate was in a striking green dress by Andrew Gn and matching hat by Philip Treacy in honour of her Irish Guards.
The pair later took their seats on a dais with the Duke of Kent, Colonel, Scots Guards, to watch the march past of the troops – a first for the royal women – while the King and the other royal colonels remained on horseback alongside.
The sight of a monarch riding throughout Trooping the Colour had not happened since 1986 when the Queen rode her charger Burmese for the final time.
It was a gift from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and Charles’ horse Noble was also from the Commonwealth country’s famous Mounties.
Trooping the Colour is a social as well as a ceremonial occasion and in the stands overlooking the parade ground were around 8,000 wives, girlfriends and parents of the guardsmen and officers on parade.
The event featured around 1,500 soldiers in total and hundreds of Guardsmen were lined up on the parade ground waiting to be inspected by the King, who was joined by the mounted royal Colonels, including the Queen and Kate in a carriage.
For the first time since 1989, all five regiments of Foot Guards – the Welsh, Scots, Irish, Coldstream and Grenadier – were on parade together for Trooping.
The colour, or regimental flag, that was trooped in front of hundreds of Guardsmen and officers will be the King’s Colour of the 1st Battalion Welsh Guards.
Among the guests was Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, the Duchess of Edinburgh, Vice Admiral Sir Tim Laurence and senior military figures.

Burmese, a gift from the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, was the Queen’s favourite steed for ceremonial occasions and she rode it for 18 years until its retirement in 1986, and decided to use a carriage for Trooping rather than train another charger.
When the King rode from Buckingham Palace to Horse Guards, he was joined on horseback by the royal Colonels – Prince of Wales, Colonel, Welsh Guards and the Princess Royal, Gold Stick in Waiting and Colonel, The Blues and Royals.
The Duke of Edinburgh also rode during the ceremony in his role as Colonel of the 1st Battalion London Guards, formed last year.
The senior royals on horseback were joined by a carriage expected to be carrying the Queen and the Princess of Wales and her children.
The royal party were set to travel in the middle of a Sovereign’s Mounted Escort formed by troops from the Household Cavalry’s Life Guards and Blues and Royals, with two divisions riding in front and two behind.
During the Trooping ceremony, the King inspected the Guardsmen, in their scarlet tunics and bearskins, standing in two rows on Horse Guards before the colour is trooped.

The massed bands of the Household Division provided musical backing during the day and also taking part was the King’s Troop Royal Horse Artillery who, following the parade, fired a 41-gun salute in Green Park to mark the King’s official birthday – while from the Tower of London the Honourable Artillery Company fired 62 volleys.
Following the ceremony, the royal family headed back to Buckingham Palace and gathered on the balcony to watch an extended military flypast after the display on coronation day had to be scaled down due to bad weather.
Around 70 aircraft from the Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force took part – including aircraft from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, the C-130 Hercules on its final ceremonial flight, modern Typhoon fighter jets with a red, white and blue finale from the Red Arrows.
