M8 Glasgow crash: Royal Mail lorry driver rushed to hospital after major collision

Drivers are facing major delays after a Royal Mail lorry crashed on the M8 in the centre of Glasgow during rush hour.

The collision occurred near Glasgow Royal Infirmary at about 6.30pm on Junction 15 Cathedral.

Traffic is backed up onto the motorway westbound close to the exit slip road, with the lorry’s cabin appearing to have separated from its base following the accident.

Emergency services rushed to the scene as the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service helped with the recovery of the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle has been taken to hospital but there are no updates on his condition, as reported by the Daily Record .

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “About 6.30pm on Tuesday 23 July 2029, police, fire and ambulance services responded to a report a lorry had gone over onto its side on the M8 westbound near to Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

“The man that was driving the lorry has been taken to hospital. His condition at this time is unknown.

“Police are at at the scene and recovery of the vehicle is awaited. The westbound carriageways of the motorway are closed at present.”
