MAFS Paul Brunson explains first ever row with his wife

Married at First Sight star Paul Brunson has told how he and his wife had their first-ever row after tying the knot – because their holiday resort proved to be too quiet. The 49-year-old, who is known as ‘one of the world’s most influential matchmakers’ shared the details of the fall-out on his Instagram channel (@‌paulcbrunson).

The popular host has been married to his wife, Jill, for 22 years. Paul explained how he thought their first holiday together would be “perfect”, but he was left “disgruntled” during their first trip together due to their “differing holiday desires”

With spring finally arriving in the UK and people planning trips abroad, the dating expert is sharing his tips to have a “smooth” trip as a couple. He explains that just as there are love languages, there are also travel personalities.

Paul said: “See, our differing holiday desires set the stage for our first real argument. You’ve probably heard of the love languages… well similarly, there are what I like to call travel personalities,” said Paul, who shot the video with TUI Blue.

“There I was a ‘cultural connoisseur’, you know me, mostly interested in art and history. But what I didn’t realise was that Jill is more of a ‘romantic relaxer’ and so now I was trapped in a setting meant for people who just wanted to chill and soak up the vibes which honestly left me disgruntled for most of our stay.”

The clip has been captioned “Don’t let your first holiday together be your last”.

Paul discusses four different personas people adopt when they arrive at their sunshine destination: adventurous spirits, creative epicureans, cultural connoisseurs and romantic relaxers. Social media users came out in droves to share their own stories.

Devinia said: “The big break. I realise I’m all of those travel personalities rolled into one. I definitely do not want to visit a country and just sit by a hotel pool but I like a bit of that thrown in. Love culture, adventure and am definitely a big foodie.” Sonya added: “What a fantastic idea! You definitely learn a lot more abotu a new partner on your first trip together than you would otherwise and it can be make or break!”

“Sound advice right,” said Georgie, tagging a person named Harry, presumably their partner. TUI BLUE launched a campaign to ensure first-time romantic holidaymakers get the most from their holiday after a study found nearly two-thirds (60%) of young couples agreed the get-away is ‘make or break’ for a relationship.
