THE 25-YEAR-OLD alleged killer of a heavily pregnant woman and her baby in Croydon has appeared in court today.
Aaron McKenzie is accused of murdering Kelly Mary Fauvrelle, 26, who was eight months pregnant when she was stabbed to death in her bed in the early hours of June 29.
He is also accused of the manslaughter of her baby son, Riley.
Riley, who was named by his relatives, was delivered in an emergency C-section at the scene in Thornton Heath, South London, but died four days later on July 3.
McKenzie, from Peckham, South London, is also charged with possession of a knife today.
He was arrested on Thursday and stood at the dock at Camberwell Green Magistrates’ Court, wearing dark blue jeans and a grey jumper, with his arms folded during the brief hearing.
McKenzie only spoke to confirm his name, date of birth, and that he is British, but he did not give his address.
He was not asked to enter a plea to any of the charges.
District Judge Karim Ezzat told him he will next appear at the Old Bailey on Wednesday for a bail hearing.
McKenzie has another hearing at the same court on August 12.
He was remanded in custody.
The Royal Mail worker was attacked in her ground-floor bedroom at the rear of the house when her whole family were alerted to the sound of her screams at about 3.30am.
Her entire family, including her mother, two brothers, sister and sister’s baby son, were all in the house.
