A man has been arrested following an incident in Truro city centre. Police were called to Victoria Square on Thursday afternoon.
The call to Devon and Cornwall Police followed reports of a man shoplifting from a store. Eyewitnesses said that a riot van and a police car arrived, with a big crowd of people watching.
Police have confirmed that a man has been arrested in connection with the incident. He was taken into police custody.
A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesperson said: “Police were called at around 2.20pm to Pannier Market area of Truro following reports of a man shoplifting from a store. Officers attended and detained a man.
“A 32-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of a public order offence, criminal damage and theft and taken into police custody.”
