A suspect has appeared in court after two people were attacked in a Nottingham street.
Police were called to Lower Parliament Street, near the Royal Mail depot, at 10.42 pm on Thursday 2 October after a man and woman were assaulted.
The woman was knocked to the ground and the man was struck to the back of his head with a weapon, causing a deep cut.
Carlton Bernard, of Wainwright Close, Nottingham, has been charged with wounding with intent, assault by beating, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and possession of a Class B drug.
He has been further charged with wounding with intent, assault by beating and criminal damage in relation to a separate incident on Tuesday 7 October, in which another man sustained a broken leg following a disturbance at an address in Newark Crescent, Sneinton.
The 42-year-old appeared at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (22 October) and was remanded in custody until his next appearance at Nottingham Crown Court on 12 November.
Detective Sergeant Adam Rose, of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“Although any incident of this nature causes concern in communities we believe this was an isolated incident involving people known to each other.
“We treat any incident involving weapons extremely seriously and are pleased to have now placed a suspect before the courts.”
