A man has indecently exposed himself to a child in what police described as “an extremely concerning incident”.
North Yorkshire Police were called to the scene near the Royal Mail sorting office on Leeman Road in York at about 18:50 BST on Sunday.
It is believed the man exposed himself in front of the child who was on a cycle path.
Officers conducted a full search of the area but were unable to find the suspect, who is believed to have headed towards The Principal Hotel and York city centre.
The suspect is described as white, between 50 and 60 years old, about 5ft 11in–6ft tall, with a white beard and white hair which was short in a comb-over style.
He was wearing black glasses, a jacket and dark jeans.
A North Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “We understand this is an extremely concerning incident and a full investigation is now under way.”
The force has also encouraged anyone with relevant CCTV footage or information to contact them.
