Disturbing unverified video footage appears to show four ICE agents wrestling a man to the ground in Minneapolis before gunshots are heard
The moment ICE officers shot a man in Minnesota during a protest against Donald Trump’s immigration crackdown was reportedly caught on camera. It has now been confirmed a 37-year-old US citizen died, as the Governor of Minnesota demanded ICE officers be ‘pulled out’.
Video footage appears to show four agents grappling with a man on the ground, whilst a fifth moves in to help. It is unknown whether the victim is a demonstrator or someone being targeted by ICE according to Daily Star.
Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara confirmed that the man has died after being shot in the chest. He was taken to the hospital after CPR was performed at the scene.
The confrontation allegedly occurred in Minneapolis today (January 24), close to a doughnut establishment called Glam Doll Donuts. Whistles can be heard as the incident occurred, a tactic used by protesters to alert people that an ICE operation is taking place.
One officer is reportedly struck the man repeatedly with an item after he’s brought to the ground.
Seconds later, a gunshot are heard, an individual recording the scene shouts: “Holy s***…what the f***?” At least nine additional shots can be heard in the footage, which hasn’t been independently confirmed, reports the Mirror.
The person filming states: “Did they kill that guy? Are you f***III kidding me dude? Not again. Are you f****** kidding me dude. That guy’s dead.”
The Express reports that Governor of Minnesota Tim Walz confirmed the shooting by federal agents and consequently called the ICE officers “violent” and “untrained” and insisted they leave the state. Posting to X he said he had spoken to the President’s office: “I just spoke with the White House after another horrific shooting by federal agents this morning. Minnesota has had it.
“This is sickening. The President must end this operation.
“Pull the thousands of violent, untrained officers out of Minnesota. Now.”
The city of Minnesota also confirmed the reports, warning the public to avoid the area. Posting to X, it added: “We are aware of reports of another shooting involving federal law enforcement in the area of 26th Street W and Nicollet Ave.
“We are working to confirm additional details. We ask the public to remain calm and avoid the immediate area.”
It is not the first incident as three people so far have been shot by ICE officers in the U.S The previous incident, involving customs and border protection agents, occurred in Portland.
Anti-ICE protests have erupted across the US, including in Portland, following the fatal shooting of a 37-year-old woman in her car. Protestors quickly gathered after the shooting, holding a vigil for Renee Good and calling for public resistance against immigration enforcers.
Ms Good was killed by an ICE officer as she attempted to drive away on a snowy residential street during an operation related to the administration’s immigration crackdown. Vice President JD Vance has controversially claimed Ms Good’s death is “a tragedy of her own making.”
