Man trapped inside industrial machinery taken to hospital

A man has been taken to hospital after he got stuck inside a machine at a site in Cornwall. Firefighters rushed to the scene in Doublebois at around 11am on Wednesday, October 8, when a man became trapped inside machinery.

Police and paramedics were also called to the commercial site in the village. Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service used crash rescue equipment to free the man, who was then taken to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth for treatment.

Devon and Cornwall Police said his injuries are not thought to be life changing or life threatening. A force spokesperson said the Health and Safety Executive has been informed of the incident.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service said: “At 11.04 on 8th October 2025 one fire engine from Liskeard and the rescue tender from Bodmin attended an incident involving a person trapped in machinery in Doublebois.

“Firefighters used crash rescue equipment to release the casualty who was then handed over to the South West Ambulance Service. Crews were detained approximately ninety minutes.”

Devon and Cornwall Police said: “Police were called at 11,05am on Wednesday 8 October following reports that a man had been injured at a commercial premises in Doublebois.

“The man sustained several injuries after becoming trapped within a large industrial machine. Ambulance and fire services attended.

“The man in his 60s was taken to Derriford Hospital for treatment for his injuries which are not believed to be life changing or life threatening.

“The Health and Safety Executive has been notified.”
