Man who stalked Myleene Klass and caused her ‘sheer terror’ sentenced

A man found guilty of stalking TV and radio presenter Myleene Klass has been handed an indefinite hospital order.

Peter Windsor, of Mary Road, Stechford, in Birmingham, had denied two counts of stalking causing “serious alarm or distress” to Ms Klass and fellow Classic FM presenter Katie Breathwick between 2020 and 2024.

But jurors reached their unanimous guilty verdicts on Tuesday, October 7 last year, after deliberating for four hours and eight minutes over two days.

A trial at Birmingham Crown Court heard Windsor had sent the women numerous “unwanted” gifts, including a will-writing kit, at the radio station’s central London studios between March 2020 and August 2024.

Windsor, 61, also posted the star items that included a gun, handcuffs, and a police uniform.

Passing sentence, Judge Tom Rochford said: “What you did caused both women considerable harm, fear and distress. Both were visibly and obviously distressed when they gave their evidence.”

He added: “I accept you suffer from paranoid schizophrenia and have very serious issues with your mental health. They are at the centre of your offending.

“I have no doubt you have suffered significant mental illness for a number of years.”

The judge said Windsor started contacting his victims in March 2020, with the last contact made a week before he was arrested in September 2024.

He said: “Had you not been arrested, I have no doubt you would have continued to harass and stalk these women.”

The judge said he considered that Windsor knew what he was doing was wrong and he had shown an “escalating pattern of conduct” and that he was “calculated” in his actions.

He said: “Each message or item you sent was deliberate. You were on an upward or worsening trajectory.

“I consider it very possible you would have escalated to direct contact with the victims.”

The judge said he was satisfied it was his schizophrenia in a “very large measure” that had been what caused him to commit offences.

He said: “The most appropriate way of dealing with you is to make a hospital order.”

Following the guilty verdict Ms Klass said: “After a horrific year, my family and I finally have peace.”

The former Hear’Say singer had told the jury of her “sheer terror” after she was informed of the “accumulation” of items.

She became upset while giving evidence as she told the court how Royal Mail had found an air pistol addressed to her.

“It just felt extreme on every front,” the 47-year-old said.

She explained she was initially not told about the post, to avoid worrying her, but was later shown a list of items and photographs of some of the letters by her employer’s security staff, the BBC has previously reported.

“It was very clear, very quickly, that it was a highly volatile selection of items,” she told prosecutor Timothy Sapwell.

“It was a huge shock, especially the extent to which it had escalated. It’s a huge violation. It’s sheer terror, really.”

Windsor, who has been diagnosed with schizophrenia, called Ms Klass a “naughty vixen” in one of his letters. He also sent Mrs Breathwick a letter saying he wanted to go paddling in a lake with both women while drinking champagne.
