Marooned boat makes its final voyage – to council crusher

A marooned boat abandoned on a pavement in Stoke-on-Trent has been taken on its final voyage – to the council crusher.

The vessel – along with its trailer – mysteriously docked in Lightwood Road in Dresden on Monday, September 23. Stoke-on-Trent City Council said the boat was posing a danger and an appeal was launched to find its owner.

A specialist company was then brought in to remove the boat yesterday (September 27). A flatbed truck was pictured lifting the boat in preparation for its sail away.

Earlier in the week the council said it would be taken to a depot and crushed if its captain could not be found. One resident quipped: “I’d check all the Bullseye contestants for the area for back in the 80s.” Another added: “Look what you could have won.” While one referenced the bad weather of late and said: “Probably just waiting for the next flood.”

Anyone with information should contact the council’s environmental crime team.
