This Monday marks a bank holiday and busy shoppers looking to run errands at places like B&Q and the Post Office might face different opening hours.
Monday, May 2 is the early May bank holiday, followed by the spring bank holiday which has been moved to create an extra long weekend from June 2 to 5 in honour of the Platinum Jubilee of the Queen.
The weather in Scotland has been rather gloomy, but many people will be enjoying a much needed day off.
The long weekend is a perfect chance to grab B&Q supplies for a DIY project or stock up at the supermarket.
To avoid getting caught out by the special opening hours this weekend, we’ve created a roundup of some places that are likely to be busy.
B&Q opening hours
The DIY shop tends to operate their regular opening hours on bank holidays, which looks to be the case this weekend.
Shoppers can go by B&Q between the hours of 8am to 8pm on the bank holiday Monday, although hours may vary from store to store.
Find the hours of your local B&Q with their ‘find a store’ tool here.
Post Office
The opening hours of Post Office locations may not be the same.
“Branch opening times may differ this May Bank Holiday. Please check with your local branch in store or on their social media pages for updated opening times,” the Post Office’s official Twitter page posted.
Look up the opening hours of a specific location on the Post Office’s branch finder here.

No, the Royal Mail will not be delivering or collecting post on Monday, May 2.
Neither will the service be running in Scotland during the upcoming spring and Platinum Jubilee bank holidays on June 2 and 3.
Aldi
The budget supermarket’s hours will look different.
On Sunday, May 1, the hours are 10am to 4pm. Then on Monday, May 2, they are 8am to 8pm.
However, Aldi says the times may vary depending on the store location and advised customers to check their store finder here.
Tesco
Most Tesco shops will be open on May 2, but possibly with different times.
Some Tesco Metro and Super stores will be open between 8am through to 6pm or 8pm.
Meanwhile, some Tesco Express shops will run from 6am or 7am to 11pm.
Times will vary depending on location, so find out the bank holiday hours of your local Tesco supermarket here.
