Meet the postie with some serious wrestling moves

Meet Britain’s first wrestling postman who delivers his letters and parcels in a WWE-style Royal Mail outfit.

Ryan Williams, 30, does his rounds in cut off sleeves showing off his massive guns which he uses in the ring.

The Royal Mail worker, from Cheltenham competes under the South West Wrestling banner – and he’s a hit with audiences.

Known as ‘Ry The Guy’, he has two special moves – the Special Delivery and the Return To Sender.

He said: “It’s something I’ve always wanted to do – I’ve been a wresting fan my whole life.”

“A training school opened just down the road and everyone encouraged me to go so I went along. Then I just kept going back week after week.”

Ry said he initially wanted to stamp out the postman gimmick.

But when he discovered the appeal of an everyman hero, he embraced it.

“I think it brings a different audience,” he said.

“People recognise me as just a regular guy.”

Ry, who still works full-time, has already become a minor celebrity in his hometown, with people stopping him on the street.

Unfortunately, the ex-personal trainer hasn’t been that successful in the ring yet – but that could be about to change.

He said: “It’s always been the same experience so far – I got my a** kicked on the weekend!”

“But I’ve spoken to the promoter and he wants to start getting me some wins under my belt.”

Despite the extensive practice, he added that the fighting – often criticised for being ‘fake’ – still hurts.

“You shouldn’t look at it [wrestling] in the same way as UFC or boxing,” he said.

“We want to give people value for money.”

“We’re trained to do it but it still causes pain – especially if you don’t land properly.”

Ry is such a big wresting fan that he has even named several of his Chow Chow dogs after some of his heroes.

He said that although he accepts it’s an unlikely dream, he’d still love if the world-famous WWE came calling.

He added: “I wouldn’t turn it down. But I’m not taking it too seriously.”
