Meghan is ‘in love’ with the English countryside as she is dubbed ‘down-to-earth’

Down-to-earth Duchess! New mother Meghan is ‘self-sufficient’ and does her own Ocado orders, meal preps for the family and doesn’t have a stylist, royal source claims

  • Meghan Markle, 37,  is ‘in love’ with English traditions including country walks
  • Duchess of Sussex is adopting British mannerisms and dropping Americanisms
  • The royal is ‘down to earth’ and does weekly shop at online supermarket ‘Ocado’

Despite initially being labelled ‘Duchess Difficult’, it seems a more suitable nickname for Meghan Markle may be closer to ‘Duchess Down-to-Earth’.

Royal sources have suggested the new-mother is determined to be ‘self-sufficient’, and has been getting by with only a handful of staff.

‘Meghan doesn’t have a stylist. She does most of it herself,’ a source told Katie Nicholl at Vanity Fair, adding that she prefers doing yoga with her mother Doria and long walks with the pram to relying on a personal trainer.

While the Duchess orders Fortnum & Mason Royal Blend tea as a treat for guests, you won’t catch her ordering other posh groceries from the upmarket department store, or the likes of Harrods.

A friend revealed the former actress foes all the grocery shopping at online supermarket Ocado, and places the order herself.

It is believed Meghan does the cooking for the family, and spent the last weeks of her pregnancy prepping and freezing organic meals ahead of baby Archie’s arrival.

Despite some initial challenges, it is now believed she has now settled in well, and Meghan is believed to have fallen in love with the English way of life.

Charity Campaigner Nick Ede, who has worked alongside the Duchess, revealed that she loves English traditions, including quaint pubs, country walks and settling in by a roaring fires.

It is also believed the royal is dropping Americanisms, such as saying the word ‘pants’, in favour of British mannerisms and phrases such as ‘bits and bobs’.

And while Harry and Meghan are said to be feeling the effects of sleepless nights with a newborn, it’s believed they are ‘enjoying every minute of it’ going on long walks in the grounds of their house.

Despite adoring taking baby Archie and their two dogs for walks, it is reported that the couple are privately advertising for a dog-walker for the pups due to their hectic schedules.

The couple have had a busy six weeks since welcoming Archie Harrison on 6 May, with Meghan taking on various public appearances during her maternity leave.

The royals have also have welcomed a stream of visitors at their home Frogmore Cottage since his birth, including royals Prince Charles, Prince William and Kate Middleton, as well as Meghan’s close friends Jessica Mulroney and Serena Williams.

Meghan will remain on maternity leave until the autumn, but will attend a handful of public events before then.

In early June, she attended Trooping The Colour to mark the Queen’s birthday, her first official appearance since the photocall to introduce Baby Archie to the world.

And on Saturday, she made a surprise appearance when she joined Harry to watch the New York Yankees take on the Boston Red Sox as the capital hosted its first Major League game.

Prince Harry and Meghan were then joined by members of the Invictus Games Foundation on the field for a ceremonial first pitch.
