Meghan Markle asks Instagram followers to nominate ‘forces for change’

Are YOU one of Meghan Markle’s ‘Forces For Change’? Duchess asks her online followers to nominate worthy candidates to be followed by royal couple’s SussexRoyal Instagram account

  • Harry and Meghan follow fifteen different accounts on Instagram each month
  • Pair decided to look for ‘Forces of Change’ following on from editing Vogue
  • Comes after they were criticised for plugging a retreat run by a close friend

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have asked their Instagram followers to nominate their ‘Forces for Change’ following Meghan’s guest editorship of Vogue.

Posting on their SussexRoyal page, the couple asked their loyal fanbase to suggest people they look up to and organisations doing amazing work in the comments section.

Harry and Meghan follow fifteen different Instagram users every month on the account, which boasts 9.2million followers four months after its creation.

For August, the royal pair hope to highlight a number of forces for change – the title of Meghan’s September edition of British Vogue.

The request comes after the new parents were criticised for plugging an exclusive £900-a-night retreat run by one of Meghan’s close friends.

In May, the couple followed Taryn Toomey while saying they wanted to ‘shine a light’ on those doing ‘amazing work for mental health’.

The former fashion industry executive advertises a £3,600 four-night retreat that she hosts at one of the finest hotels in the Caribbean in her biography.

At the time, a royal expert warned that endorsing a friend’s commercial venture so publicly put the couple on ‘dangerous ground’.

The duo asked for their followers input by sharing a picture with a navy background, the couple’s royal cypher, and the question ‘Who is your force for change?’

In the caption, they continued: ‘For the month of August we look to you for help. We want to know who YOUR Force for Change is….

‘Each month, we change the accounts we follow to highlight various causes, people or organisations doing amazing things for their communities and the world at large.

‘Over the next few days please add your suggestions into the comments section: someone you look up to, the organisation doing amazing work that we should all be following, an account that inspires you to be and do better (or that simply makes you feel good), or the handle that brims with optimism for a brighter tomorrow.’
