Meghan Markle delights fans with birthday thank you notes – which were sent in Kensington Palace envelopes despite the Sussexes’ split from the household

  • Meghan celebrated 38th birthday on the 4th August and sent thank you notes
  • A fan shared the card received from the Duchess of Sussex on Twitter yesterday
  • The sweet card shows Meghan in Tonga last October, and includes a thank you
  • Fans noted it was sent on an Kensington Palace headed envelope despite split
  • Harry and Meghan now come under Buckingham Palace, where it was sent from
  • Kate and William come under Kensington Palace, following split earlier this year

A fan has shared the touching thank you note Meghan Markle has sent followers in response to well wishes for her birthday.

The Duchess of Sussex celebrated her 38th birthday on the 4th August, and it has now been revealed that the new mother chose a photo from her Australia tour in October 2018, for her note.

On Wednesday royal fan Christin Zi, from Germany, took to Twitter to share a letter sent to her from Kensington Palace, with a picture of Meghan in Tonga last Autumn on the front of the card.

And notably the headed envelopes still contained the Kensington Palace address – despite the Cambridges and Sussexes splitting households earlier this year, with Harry and Meghan now under the Buckingham Palace working household.

Taking to her Twitter, Christin wrote: ‘Today I received the reply for my letter regarding the Birthday of the Duchess of Sussex’.

The picture shows a then-pregnant Meghan, dressed in a stunning $595 (£480) ‘Cary’ dress by US ready-to-wear brand Veronica Beard on her final day in Tonga last year.

Notably, the headed envelope is addressed as Kensington Palace, despite  Meghan and Prince Harry moving to Frogmore Cottage in the grounds of Windsor Castle, before welcoming Archie in May.

However a picture from another account shows that it was sent from Buckingham Palace, their official business residence.

Remarking on the postal address, one follower wrote: 'Interesting Kensington Palace envelope given it is not their residence.'

Another pondered: ‘Maybe Clarence House did not have the envelopes yet because the move to BP is still ‘fresh’.’

Revealing that they got the same note, another fan said: ‘I got mine yesterday. I think it’s one of my favourite outfits from the tour’.

And the fan also shared the words from the note, tweeting: ‘The message on the back says ‘The Duchess of Sussex was so touched by your very kind birthday wishes. Her Royal Highness sends her warmest thanks for your thoughtfulness and wishes you all the best’.

Last month Meghan celebrated her birthday with a trip to Ibiza with Harry and baby Archie, marking the youngster’s first trip abroad.

In August the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s charity removed Harry and Meghan from its title, marking a final step in the split between the two couples.

Documents published by Companies House today show William and Kate’s foundation is now just called ‘The Royal Foundation of The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’.

This comes after Harry and Meghan set up their own Sussex Royal foundation, a move which experts have said was always part of Harry’s plan once he started his own family.

The Royal Foundation has yet to update the title on its website, which still also features images of the Sussexes (Prince Harry, right)
