Meghan Markle will easily make the transition from royal life because she is ‘a shape-shifter’ who ‘is no stranger to picking up and reinventing herself’, a former friend has revealed.
Shinan Govani, from Toronto, knew Duchess of Sussex, 38, through the city’s social circles while the then-actress was filming Suits, and believes she will deftly adapt to life outside The Firm.
Writing in Tatler, Shinan also commented that within the city’s social scene, Meghan was known as ‘like liquorice, you either love her, or you don’t.’
His comments come days before Prince Harry and Meghan officially step down from royal duties on March 31 and start living ‘financially independently’ in Meghan’s home state of California.

Shinan revealed how once Meghan made a ‘surprise appearance’ with then-boyfriend Cory at his home in Toronto for a dinner party while shooting Suits.
He spoke with the Duchess while in his kitchen, with their conversation moving to different periods of her life including time spent living in Buenos Aires.
He explained: ‘Something that has stayed with me, especially post-Megxit, is that Meghan is no stranger to picking up and reinventing herself, be it in Argentina, Canada, the UK, or now, LA.
‘Both a go-getter as well as a shape-shifter, she returns now with more social mojo than she could have ever imagined then.’
Shinan’s comments come days before Meghan and Prince Harry, 35, are set to officially step back from royal duty to become financially independent (pictured, the Duke and Duchess at the Commonwealth Service earlier this month)
He also revealed how Meghan was ‘deft’ at ‘immersing herself’ in Toronto’s social crowd, and was always ‘on the scene’ and ‘a fixture at shindigs.’
He added that many of the contacts and friends met during this period ‘continue to have social clout’, including Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, and his wife, Sophie.
His comments come as Meghan and Harry prepare to officially step back from royal duty tomorrow.
Harry and Meghan caused quite a stir earlier this year when they made the shock announcement that they were quitting Royal life and leaving the UK.

The Megxit process will finally be complete on Tuesday when the couple will stand down as senior Royals.
It emerged last week that the duke and duchess had moved to California before the border with Canada closed because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Meghan’s mother Doria lives in Los Angeles, and the former actress grew up there. The couple took a private jet with their son Archie, ten months, just before non-essential travel between Canada and the US was suspended.
It was revealed last week that Meghan is set to narrate a Disney documentary about elephants as her first gig since leaving the royal family (pictured, at the European premiere of the Lion King in London in 2019)
Meghan’s entire fee from the project will go entirely to an elephant charity dedicated to conserving wildlife
And Meghan’s first gig after quitting the royal family was also revealed, with Meghan voicing a Disney documentary on elephants.
Her fee for the project is going entirely to the Elephants Without Borders charity – an organisation dedicated to conserving wildlife and helps protect the animals from poaching.
The Disneynature documentary will start streaming on April 3 on Disney+, three days after she and Harry quit as senior royals.
