Meghan Markle ‘will not join’ Prince Harry when he brings his Invictus Games to Birmingham, a royal expert has claimed. The Duchess of Sussex is currently by her husband’s side at this year’s games, which opened in Canada on Saturday, February 8.
But it has been suggested she will not be jetting to the Midlands when the Invictus Games comes to the region in 2027. Meghan has not returned to the UK since the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II in 2022.
Many Royal fans had hoped she would make an exception and come back to Britain for the games. But royal expert Kinsey Schofield said the Duchess was ‘currently not comfortable’ with making a UK trip.

Schofield, who is also host of the To Di For Daily podcast said: “I lean towards Meghan not attending Prince Harry’s 2027 Invictus Games in the UK because we have seen Meghan prioritise herself and her mental health over the last few years. I know Meghan is currently not comfortable with the idea of returning to the UK.
“Prince Harry’s security concerns are a huge reason and compliment Meghan’s media insecurity. She fears returning and being rejected, booed. She feels vulnerable there.”
Harry is also said to have ‘fears for her physical safety related to a hypothetical visit’, Mirror US reports. Schofield said: “That is why you’ve seen Prince Harry miss important weddings of friends, attend his uncle’s funeral solo, and the tenth anniversary of Invictus alone.”
Meghan has chosen to skip a number of major Royal Family milestones over recent years including the coronation of King Charles III. Schofield said: “I was shocked someone that has chased fame all her life would abandon the opportunity to participate in something as historically significant as the coronation of a King.”
Her decision not to return to the UK shows that Meghan is prioritising ‘protecting her peace’ and is avoiding traveling to a place she ‘does not feel welcome’, Schofield said. The royal expert added: “I do not believe Meghan has any desire to return to the UK anytime soon.
“Getting ‘stuck’ in the UK without her children after the death of the Queen was her worst nightmare.” Schofield added: “She felt freshly attacked after being asked to stay behind in the last few hours of the Queen’s life… then was furious months later when they received word that Frogmouth Cottage would no longer be their UK base.
“She feels defenceless in the UK and unwelcome.”
