The quote from the Buddhist leader comes after it was revealed the couple considered him for a role in their royal wedding. The motivational message read: “I believe that at every level of society – familial, tribal, national and international – the key to a happier and most successful world is the growth of compassion.” The caption for the post was “quote for the week ahead”.
It comes as the Sussex’s prepare to embark on their Royal tour of Africa which starts on Monday.
The pair reportedly considered the Dalai Lama for a role in their wedding last year.
The Duke and Duchess debated with Justin Welby, Archbishop of Canterbury, who to choose to deliver a sermon.
Meghan and Harry eventually chose fiery American bishop Michael Curry, who gave a passionate speech at the royal wedding.
The Archbishop is said to have recommended Meghan pick Bishop Curry after she initially wanted the Dalai Lama.
The Daily Mail reported the Archbishop ruled out the Buddhist leader because he isn’t a Christian.
The Duchess of Sussex refused to comment.
Their plea for compassion comes after the couple received backlash for taking four private jets in 11 days, despite speaking out about climate change.

Speaking to the Daily Mail she claimed Harry looked very different from the young royal the country grew to know and love.
Ms Junor said as Prince Harry looks distant from the public, his relationship with his brother William also seems in danger.
She said: “How desperately sad it is to see these two families, the Cambridges and the Sussexes, pitted against one another.
“Even allowing for some media hype, there is clearly something awry with the once ‘Fab Four’.”
This is not the first motivational quote the couple have shared on social media with their 9.4million followers.
The couple have also quoted Nelson Mandela, Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Princess Diana, Harry’s late mother.
Earlier this month Meghan and Harry took to Instagram to share an inspirational quote telling people to “make peace and build”.
The “powerful message”, by former South African president Nelson Mandela, came after her dad Thomas Markle called her a hypocrite for cutting him from her life.
Sources close to the Sussexes revealed Meghan has no intention of letting her dad ever see his grandson Archie after his public betrayals.
However, the quote shared on their Instagram told a different message.
It read: “It is so easy to break down and destroy. The heroes are those who make peace and build.”
