Meghan Markle news: Sussex fans in meltdown over court victory – ‘Queen!’ | Royal | News

On Thursday, the Court of Appeal ruled the privacy case does not need to go to a full trial, rejecting Associated Newspapers’ attempt. It concludes the latest stage of the legal battle between Meghan and Associated Newspapers, the publisher of the Mail on Sunday and Mail Online, over extracts of a letter the Duchess sent to her estranged father.

Meghan wrote the letter to Thomas Markle in 2018.

Extracts were published in five articles by the Mail on Sunday and MailOnline in February 2019.

The Duchess initially won a privacy case at the High Court earlier this year, where Lord Justice Warby ruled in her favour without a full trial.

Associated Newspaper appealed the judgement.

Now, the Sussex squad has taken to social media to congratulate Meghan on her victory.

One Twitter user, Malaika Hamilton, wrote: “Forget Person of the Year, HRH Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex, is the Person of the Decade.

“Congratulations on your win!”

Another Twitter user, Taytay, added: “Wow! This is powerful.

“For what the enemies meant for evil has turned around for Meghan Markle and our own good!

“This is what being on the right side of history looks like. So enjoy!”

A sixth person, Amara, tweeted: “This definitely is a ‘we did it Joe’ kinda moment for Sussexsquad.

“In a way, we literally lived through all the trial period and all the mess that accompanied it with our faves.

“A win for Meghan is a win for us all.

“Hugs hugs squaddies! We WON!”

Meghan issued a bombshell statement after the Court of Appeal upheld the High Court judge’s decision over her privacy case.

She declared it “a victory not just for me but for anyone who has ever felt scared to stand up for what’s right”.
