Meghan Markle set to guest edit British Vogue to coincide with Royal Sussex brand launch | Royal | News

However, instead of using the platform to offer style tips or give her take on the latest fashion trends, the Duchess of Sussex will write about causes close to her heart. Meghan, 37, is set to discuss issues affecting women and the environment when she embarks on her newest venture. The timing of the issue will coincide with the launch of Prince Harry and Meghan’s new charitable foundation in autumn, which will focus on “environment and community”.

According to The Daily Mail, Meghan was offered to chance to write columns in British Vogue, one of the world’s most well-known magazines, by its editor Edward Enninful.

The reports come just weeks after The Daily Beast reported the new mum was eyeing a role as a regular contributing editor at Vogue.

It said Meghan, who is on maternity leave while she takes care of baby Archie, would write about “worthy charitable and philanthropic issues”.

Photographer Annie Leibovitz is said to have been tasked with taking photos of the former actress to appear alongside her written pieces in the book.

Earlier this month source told The Daily Mail: “The spread in Vogue won’t be a superficial photo shoot – on the contrary, she wants to use it as a platform to make a difference.

“She is working with Vogue as a contributing editor on a few fabulous stories about the causes that are near and dear to her and it may eventually become a regular column.

“Anna Wintour is also part of the talks and is in discussion about running some or all of the stories in US Vogue.”

Mr Enninful tempted the duchess and eventually won her over, after American Vogue’s editor Dame Anna Wintour failed to convince Meghan to guest edit the version of the magazine in her home country.

It is a major scoop for the 47-year-old native of Ghana, who in 2017 became British Vogue’s first black editor.

As a child, he was inspired by his seamstress mother to experiment with colours and fabrics which he eventually made a career out of.

Although it has been suggested the content will also be printed in the American issue, it has not been confirmed.

The secret project has been closely guarded, discussed only at clandestine meetings and in emails fired back and forth between Vogue’s offices in the West End and Meghan’s Windsor home.

Harry, 34, and Meghan, who were set up on a blind date by a mutual friend in London, bonded over their shared love of helping the needy.

Before marring into the Royal Family, Meghan ran a lifestyle blog called The Tig where she talked about her self-care routine.

The Sussexes will embark on their first royal tour as a family-of-three when they jet to southern Africa this autumn.

It will be the first time little Archie, born on May 6, will travel out of the country.
