Since stepping down as senior royals in 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been vocal about their Royal struggles. Their candidness has been showcased from the bombshell Oprah Winfrey interview in 2021 to the revealing Netflix docuseries in 2022, and not forgetting Harry’s tell-all book ‘Spare’ released the year after.
Despite a hit to their public image following these explosive disclosures, it seems the couple also sought to address their grievances behind closed doors by reaching out to King Charles. Royal commentator Neil Sean shared that Meghan is believed to have penned a letter to Harry’s father, voicing her frustration over the “different rules” applied to her in her Royal role compared to other family members.
In a video on his YouTube channel, the seasoned Royal observer reported that Meghan was seeking clarity from the King, having attempted to arrange a meeting to discuss the challenges she faced since joining the British monarchy. He revealed: “Meghan Markle wants some answers from His Majesty the King. She tried to set up a meeting with him, she sent him a letter and wanted a one to one to explain exactly the problems she’s encountered ever since becoming a member of the British monarchy.”

“The thing that really riles Meghan is that Fergie pops up on things like the ITV daytime show This Morning, Loose Women and billing herself as the Duchess of York, selling books and possibly doing adverts all under the Royal Family.”
“Meghan and Harry seemingly don’t understand why it’s a different rule for her.”, reports the Express.
Since stepping back from their roles as senior royals nearly five years ago, the couple have resided in their Montecito mansion in America with their two children, Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, three. Despite being her husband’s homeland, Meghan has only made a handful of trips back to the UK, her last visit being in September 2022 for the late Queen’s funeral.
Prince Harry has made several trips to the UK this year alone without his wife and children, his most recent visit being in October last year for the Wellchild Awards 2024. He did not meet with his father King Charles, with whom he is on speaking terms, or his estranged brother Prince William during this visit.
