Meghan Markle’s pal Janina Gavankar calls out media for photoshopping couple’s Christmas card

Meghan Markle‘s close pal Janina Gavankar has called out a media outlet, claiming it Photoshopped the royals’ Christmas card in a bid to continue its “campaign” against her.

“The Morning Show” actress revealed Tuesday night on Twitter that she was behind the lens of the holiday snap of Markle with Prince Harry and baby Archie.

The original image was tweeted as a gif by the couple via The Queen’s Commonwealth Trust, but a still image of the card shared by the Daily Mail showed the Duchess of Sussex with dark shadows around her face.

Referencing the Daily Mail’s coverage of the Christmas greeting, the 39-year-old Gavankar wrote that she sees “your campaign against my friend continues.”

“Nice photoshop of my non-photoshopped image,” Gavankar tweeted. “Now may we all get back to the spirit of Christmas and not the spirit of maliciousness.”

Gavankar also shared the untouched image of the royal parents looking on adoringly at their 7-month-old son in front of a Christmas tree.

“So proud to have taken the Christmas photo for one of my best friends and her family,” Gavankar wrote.

Earlier in the day, the Daily Mail ran a story questioning whether Markle was Photoshopped onto the family’s holiday card.

“Meghan’s face appears significantly more in focus than that of Prince Harry in the picture appearing online, despite them both being roughly the same distance behind Archie,” the outlet wrote.

The royal couple is currently locked in a legal battle with the Daily Mail and Mail on Sunday over what they allege are tabloid rumors published about them.

The lawsuit also addresses the publication of Markle’s private letters to her estranged father, Thomas Markle, claiming they were heavily edited.

“The Mail on Sunday stands by the story it published and will be defending this case vigorously. Specifically, we categorically deny that the Duchess’s letter was edited in any way that changed its meaning,” a spokesman for the paper said, according to NBC News.
