Met Office share exact time heavy rain and thunder could hit Godiva Festival

The Met Office forecast predicts thunder could hit Coventry on last day of Godiva Festival 2024. The latest local online report for today (July 7) says that there could be some ‘heavy and potentially thundery’ showers hit our area this afternoon.

According to the 24 hour forecast for today, the biggest risk of thundery showers comes between 2pm and 3pm with a 70 per cent chance of rain. This means that those heading along to the final day of the Godiva Festival at the War Memorial Park may need a rain mac.

But then the risk of rain falls dramatically and there is likely to be a sunny end to the day.The forecast for tomorrow (July 8) into the new week shows that the unsettled weather is set to continue.

But there is hope as we head into next weekend with Thursday (July 11) set to see the start of drier weather with more ‘pleasant’ sunny spells. The latest local forecast is as follows:

Today

Sunday sees scattered showers developing across the region, some heavy and potentially thundery. Pleasant in the intermediary sunny spells, even if temperatures are slightly below average for July. Maximum temperature 18C.

Tonight

Late sunny spells to end the weekend as showers ease. Dry overnight with largely clear skies and odd short-lived fog patches. A chilly night for July, particularly in rural areas. Minimum temperature 7C.

Monday

A bright start to the new week with some pleasant sunny spells and light winds. Turning cloudier into the afternoon and evening ahead of rain arriving overnight. Maximum temperature 19C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday

Cloudy and unsettled throughout Tuesday and Wednesday with outbreaks of rain and showers, heavy at times. Becoming drier on Thursday and pleasanter overall owing to more sunny spells.
