Mobile speed camera locations in Gloucestershire this half-term week

School may be out, but mobile speed camera enforcers don’t take the half-term off.

So if you want to avoid a fine, or ‘detention’ at a speed awareness course, keep an eye on that speedometer.

Speed limits are there to keep road users as safe as possible and in the locations below, there is going to be extra enforcement in February at these mobile speed camera sites.

Five locations have been revealed for this month

  • A40 Dowdeswell
  • A40 Andoversford
  • Andoversford School
  • A436 Westfield
  • A436 Lineover Wood

They are there to keep traffic speeds down and reduce the risk of accidents.

Speeding can see points on your licence or you attending a speed awareness course.

Gloucestershire police’s mobile speed detector vans are out and about as ever to deter motorists from the kind of driving that could ultimately prove dangerous.

Why are there speed vans?

The mobile speed vans are operated by Gloucestershire Constabulary, and support the Police and Crime Commissioners’ Plan priority ‘safe and social driving’.

The mobile speed detection vans operate at over 80 sites across the county and prioritise site activity by examining speed and accident data including intelligence received from communities.

In an effort to reduce speeding in areas across the county, the priority sites will be advertised each month.

Visits to the other sites will continue but emphasis will be placed on the advertised locations.

The Mobile Camera Enforcement Unit said the presence of a speed camera will encourage drivers to change their behaviour and drive at a lower, safer speed.

It adds: “This will help to improve the quality of life for people living in these areas and improve the safety of the roads for all those who use them.”

And it’s not just the mobile ones you have to be aware of as there are also a number of community priority sites.
