Royal Mail has announced its first stamps approved by the King: a set of portraits of the late Queen.
The images previously appeared on stamps in 2002 to mark the Golden Jubilee. The new set of four features the addition of a black border and the dates of the Queen’s birth and death.
The second-class stamp has a picture taken by Dorothy Wilding in 1952 to mark Elizabeth II’s accession, while the first-class stamp shows the Queen in 1968, as photographed by Cecil Beaton. The most recent portrait, by Tim Graham, dates from a visit to Prague Castle in the Czech Republic in 1996. It carries a face value of £2.55 — up from 65p in the 2002 set.
