The number of Americans receiving food stamps continued to rise in June, with more than 35 million Americans receiving assistance. The numbers, released Thursday by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, are 22 percent higher than June 2008. The number of Americans receiving food stamps in June rose by more than 700,000 people compared with May.
