Quite simply the recent media release regarding the proposed ammonia storage facility at Dales Voe seems to have angered a fair few residents over the last week or so.

Ammonia plant expected to be in operation by end of 2029

Nobody is totally against any developments that could bring income to the isles, however both the area chosen and natural unspoilt landscapes between Dales Voe to the Muckle Ayre that has been earmarked is a local beauty spot that deserves protection from any large scale projects.

The area features natural habitats including Grouse nesting amongst other bird species, and the Muckle Ayre and surrounding cliff areas are natural landscape features that really would be criminal to acquire for developments.

A more sensible area for consideration could be over the hill nearer the sewage works if the project does proceed – many members of the public have expressed that opinion since the news release.
