Morrisons has launched a new photo printing service with a German partner, offering both online and instore personalised print options for customers.
Poster and photo printing services are available as well as creating personalised photo books, magnets, coasters, mugs, phone cases, tote bags, key chains, bottle openers and calendars.
Kiosks are being installed at 300 Morrisons supermarkets across the UK over the next year, with an online service launched on 23 July. The online platform allows users to upload images, with a four to five working days delivery option for a shipping fee, working in partnership with Royal Mail.
Item pricing starts from £1.99 for a poster up to £20.99 for a landscape A3 calendar.
Commenting on the new offering, John Parry, head of services at Morrisons, said: “We’re always looking for ways to provide the services our customers want and need, while making everyday moments more meaningful. Summer holidays are always full of memories, and our photo printing helps customers turn them into personalised gifts that they can cherish at an affordable price.”
ORWO Photolab, which has production in Bitterfeld-Wolfen, Germany, will be responsible for running the store platform, in-house production of all personalised items and full fulfilment services for Morrisons Photo customers. The Customization Group acquired the operational assets of ORWO Net out of insolvency in June.
ORWO filed for insolvency in March this year.
The Customization Group, a Germany-headquartered producer of personalised print-on-demand products, said on LinkedIn that the Morrisons photo service marks “the first major milestone” for the company following the acquisition.
The group has five production sites in the US, Germany, Poland and Latvia with a combined daily production capacity of over 500,000 customised products and over 1,000 partner stores.
The Morrisons photo website is operated in cooperation with vending machine operator ME Group, formerly Photo-Me International, which now offers a range of services beyond photobooths, including laundry services, printing kiosks and vending equipment.
These two companies have had a partnership for more than 30 years, and as of January, the equipment company operates 488 photobooths, 424 children’s rides and operates 104 Revolution laundry machines at Morrisons sites. They signed a new contract in January expanding their partnership for a further five years.
