Mrs Dowey also emphasised the importance of ensuring that postal workers can carry out their duties safely and without fear of abuse, intimidation or aggression.
The Scottish Conservative and Unionist MSP said: “I want to express my sincere gratitude to the entire Royal Mail team here in Ayr, and across Ayrshire and the whole country.
“The festive period is always incredibly demanding, yet staff continue to work tirelessly to keep the service going.
“It is essential that our posties are able to go about their duties safely and free from abuse and intimidation, and I thank the vast majority of the public who respect our fantastic Royal Mail staff.”
