Mulwala netball | Shepparton News

A hard, fast paced game was played between the A graders at Tongala. Down by 8 at quarter time the girls came out in the second and put on a beautiful display of netball, with defenders forcing plenty of turnovers.

At half time there was only a goal in it and the second half continued with both teams showing why they are finals contenders.

Steph Hammond played her usual dependable role, putting her body on the line numerous times in an effort to get her girls the win.

Amity defended beautifully, intercepting loose balls with ease.

B Grade

Tongala 41 def Mulwala 31.

The match against Tongala was always going to be a tough one and the Blues were the worthy winners at the final siren.

The Mulwala defenders provided plenty of opportunities and worked hard all game but unfortunately weren’t able to capitalise on the turnovers.

The B Grade will regroup next week and play their usual brand of netball.

C Grade

Tongala 61 def Mulwala 36.

First quarter was a great start, showing great defence and sticking well, with Tongala only 4 goals in front at quarter time.

Unfortunately the girls weren’t able to stick with the Tongala girls towards the end but great effort with everyone working well together with a mix of new girls helping out.

Awards: Royal Mail Hotel – Tayla McNamara, Wingates – Charlotte Woosnam.

C Res

Tongala 53 def Mulwala 19.

The girls were up against a strong Tongala side and the Lions started the game off strong. Melissa and Sonya worked hard in defence and Simone played an amazing game, driving for the ball and never giving up.

Tahlia moved well in the ring and even though Mulwala lost, the whole team never gave up and should be proud of their efforts.

Awards: Publican’s Daughter – Simone Brown, Zambreros – Tahlia Dole, The Food Mill on Bayley -Melissa Riches.

Under 17s

Tongala 30 def by Mulwala 51.

A fantastic win from the superstar under 17s, the coaches are so proud of them.

The goalers were on fire and fed so well from the midcourters. The one-on-one defence was spot on. Enjoy the win legends!

Awards: Zambreros – Myley McGlynn, Food Mill on Bayley – Jess Linehan, Mulwala Bakery – Violet Elliott.

Under 15s

Tongala 25 def by Mulwala 27.

A fantastic game to watch this week. Both teams gave it their all, with Mulwala coming away with the win. Maisee was incredible in defence, as was Taylah in the centre, running out all four quarters and forcing lots of turnovers. Well done girls.

Under 13s

Tongala 35 def Mulwala 5.

Strength was very noticeable on the court against Tongala. The girls worked hard to get the ball down the court but a few errors in passing meant a chance to score was limited.

The girls have taken away some skills to work on over the last few weeks. Proud that they kept on fighting.

Awards: Zambreros – Bel Hargreaves, Food Mill on Bayley – Natalie Linehan.

Under 11s

The under 11s had a very tough game, as Tongala were a very strong and tall side. The girls listened to the feedback and never gave up. Defence was able to get lots of turnovers with Poppy and Nancy. Addison, Lucy and Zali got lots of intercepts in the mid court and Layla and Remi worked hard in gorals against the strong defenders,
