Mystery knitter pays first-class tribute to fallen soldiers with woollen figurine depicting a soldier surrounded in poppies

A mysteriously knitted bust depicting a First World War soldier appeared in a mailbox ahead of Remembrance Day.

Right, Tommy, a woollen Tommy in wool, was seen in Wantage, Oxfordshire wearing a helmet, and was surrounded with poppies.

A note left by the anonymous knitter said: ‘This is William.
