Navy trains royal barge oarsmen

Bangkok – After the Royal Thai Navy (RTN) transported the royal barges to the Thonburi Naval Dockyard last month, there has since been a rehearsal of the oarsmen in preparation for the coming royal barge procession on October 24.

The rehearsal was held on the Chao Phraya River at the Thonburi Naval Dockyard while rehearsals for other barge crews in the procession are held at Rajathiwas Viharn Temple every day. The RTN has selected 2,200 naval officers from its agencies to participate in the procession.

There will be 10 limited rehearsals on the river from August 22 to October 10 and two dress rehearsals on October 17, and 21.
