New consultation on Pope’s Road tower

The mayor of London’s public consultation on plans for a development including a 20-storey tower in central Brixton has re-opened.

Running until 4 February, this consultation is described as “a re-notification following the previous notification on this application” which took place late last year.

“It came to the Mayor’s attention that some hard copy letters may have been returned to the sender by Royal Mail,” a statement on the mayor of London’s website says.

“We are therefore undertaking this further round of consultation to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to let the Mayor know their views on the proposal.”

As yet, no date has been set for a hearing on the application that was first submitted to Lambeth council in March 2020 by the Amsterdam-based company AG Hondo Popes Road BV.

It would see a large development fronting Pope’s Road and Brixton Station Road, including two towers, with one of 20 storeys on Pope’s Road.

In March 2021, the mayor of London announced that he would act as the local planning authority for the purposes of determining the application.

The consultation in November and December last year followed AG Hondo Popes Road BV submitting revised versions of various documents and promises of funding and accommodation for community and other purposes

Representations about the revisions to the application and/or the other information should be submitted in writing by post, email or online by 4 February. [By post: The Planning Team, Greater London Authority, City Hall, Kamal Chunchie Way, London, E16 1ZE].

The mayor’s website says that if you have already submitted comments to the Greater London Authority electronically by email or online you do not need to submit another comment, unless you wish to raise any additional points.

If you sent a letter by post, it suggests you check whether it was received by emailing planningsupport@london.gov.uk with your details, or by calling 07702 825 054, leaving a voice message if there is no answer.
