Three Bedfordshire areas have now been highlighted as Covid ‘blackspots’, according to the latest weekly statistics.

The highest category is for areas with rates of 800 and above, which are marked in black, meaning they are then labelled ‘blackspots’ in each county.

The current dominant coronavirus strain in the country is Delta, but scientists fear that the emerging Omicron variant is more infectious and can, to an extent, evade vaccines.
Evidence shows that more than half of Omicron cases in England are in the double jabbed, as the government announced the booster dose would be extended to all adults.
Cases in the United Kingdom amounted to 294,930 in the seven days to November 28 – the latest tranche of data.
The highest case rate in Bedfordshire was in Ampthill & Millbrook, which saw 84 new cases – or 940.1 per 100,000 people.
