New parcel postboxes launch in Nottinghamshire – where they are and how they work

A series of new parcel postboxes have been launched across Nottinghamshire.

A total of 32 parcel postboxes have been installed in various locations, including Arnold, Newark and Mansfield, across the county.

The new postboxes mean residents can now send parcels without having to visit a post office.

According to Royal Mail, the new postboxes are “ideally suited for a fast and easy local drop off”.

Anyone wishing to use one of the parcel postboxes must buy their postage online or via the Royal Mail app and print a label to attach to their package at home.

They can then drop off their parcel at a postbox in the same way that letters are posted.

Special delivery guaranteed items, international tracked items and tracked returns without a barcode on the label must still be posted at a post office.

Mark Street, head of campaigns at Royal Mail, said: “The introduction of the first parcel postboxes in the East Midlands means that customers can now send parcels with pre-paid postage and their returns in the same way that they do letters.

“The new parcel postboxes provide added flexibility to online sellers who might be running a business in their spare time and not keeping regular office hours.”
