For people who still value the art of cash, the impending arrival of a One Stop supermarket in Talgarth will be a welcome one.
The Sohal family, owners of the new store, will already be familiar to many locals, who know them from running Bronllys Garage.
The new supermarket is set to open its doors in Talgarth Square on Friday, December 5, with the Sohal’s currently busy getting the building ready for opening day.
“Good news, Talgarth. We’re happy to let you all know that we’ve secured the ATM machine for you,” read a post on the Talgarth Square Supermarket Onestop Facebook page on Monday, November 10.
“Also (we’ve) made sure it will be FREE. Everything has now gone through, we just don’t have a set date for installation yet, but it’s officially confirmed.”
Work on the new supermarket in the centre of Talgarth started in October, with the owners saying they hope its arrival will “bring the town square to life again”.
Ever since the news was announced, the Sohals have been updating local residents with all the latest news on social media, which has included a number of other services apart from groceries that will be available in-store.
“You asked… and we listened,” read a Facebook post on November 6.
“We’re so excited to announce that Talgarth Square Supermarket will officially offer: PayPoint – for bill payments, gas and electric top-ups, Love2Shop vouchers, gaming credits and even Netflix gift cards.
“Royal Mail – for your post, parcels, and collections; DHL and Collect+ – making sending and collecting parcels easier than ever.
“We’re working hard to bring even more convenience to the town and in the future, we’re aiming to add InPost and Yodel too.
“Every service we add is about one thing: making life easier for Talgarth residents and supporting local businesses.”
Mandy, Paramjot and Simi Sohal have taken on the running of the building, located at Liverpool House, with one local resident predicting that it will be “a lifeline” for the local community.
