Residents now have a new way to keep up to date with the latest ‘what’s on’ in Hull and news about council services and plans thanks to a brand-new publication.
Hull CC News will be landing on doorsteps from Monday, 11 November, with copies being delivered throughout this week.
The 12-page publication features a welcome from leader of the council, Cllr Mike Ross, plus updates on council projects, support and advice, ward councillor information and both regular and upcoming what’s on listings.
This pilot printed publication means that those who are digitally excluded are as up to date as possible with what’s happening in Hull.
Cllr Jack Haines, portfolio holder for communications and communities at Hull City Council, said: “As a council, people told us they want to hear more information about council news and events in the city.
“In response to this, a new pilot printed publication has been launched. This publication aims to ensure everyone can get the latest updates from the council in a more cost-effective way than previously.
“Whilst the council’s digital and social media work continues, we know not everyone has online access. We’re committed to providing residents with up to date council news and information – this new publication aims to help do that.”
In contrast to previous residents’ publications, Hull CC News is wholly written inhouse and is produced on larger newsprint, rather than a smaller magazine.
This new format is almost 50 per cent cheaper to print and 30 per cent cheaper to distribute via Royal Mail to all households in Hull at today’s prices.
Overall, the first edition of this new publication will only cost approximately 14 pence per copy, which includes delivery to every home in the city and some extra copies for distribution at other key contact points.
A very limited number of households in the East Riding will also receive copies due to Royal Mail’s delivery rounds.
