According to new research by the postal service, one-third of UK households own a dog and approximately 12 million dogs live in the UK (Statista April 24). Meanwhile, they also found that more people around the world own a dog than any other pet.
“British people are known for their love of animals, and especially dogs,” says David Gold, Director of External Affairs and Policy. “We hope that these beautiful stamps will bring added joy when they drop through people’s letterboxes on cards and letters – and remind our customers to place their cherished dog in another room when opening the door to collect mail from their postie!”
The Royal Mail often makes special stamps for celebrations and events, including Christmas, Easter, the latest blockbusters, and moments in British history. Previous collections include Viking Britain, The Spice Girls, and a commemorative stamp to remember Her Majesty The Queen.
