Newcastle Airport announces new route to major European city with flights from just £34.90

Newcastle Airport has announced that next summer it will unveil a new route featuring the cultured Scandinavian capital of Copenhagen.

The new service is courtesy of Norwegian Airlines, marking their introduction at Newcastle, and providing the sole direct connection from the North East and Yorkshire to the Danish city.

Commencing operations with Monday and Friday flights, the airline caters to both leisure and business travellers. Copenhagen’s colourful townhouses, the dining scene at Nyhavn, the famed Little Mermaid statue, and the Tivoli Garden amusement park, complement the roster of new destinations including Berlin, reports Chronicle Live.

Chris Ion, Newcastle Airport’s aviation development manager, added: “This new low-cost route to Copenhagen provides brilliant opportunities for leisure, business and trade between the North East of England and Denmark. Our customer feedback shows that Copenhagen is a popular destination for the North East travelling public and we look forward to the new route taking off next summer.”

Magnus Thome Maursund, commercial director at Norwegian, expressed his enthusiasm for the new travel opportunity: “We are beyond pleased to offer this direct and unserved route between Copenhagen and Newcastle, connecting the Nordic region with this exciting destination and the wonders of North East England. This contributes to increased connectivity and benefits business and tourism in both regions. We are confident that this route will be very well received among our customers.”

Flights on this anticipated route are set to take off from May 2, 2025. For further details, individuals can check out the Norwegian website or contact a local travel agent.
