A Derry man waited 42 days for a cheque to be delivered to him which was sent from an address less than eight miles away due to a backlog of undelivered post in the city, a council meeting has heard.

It follows reports of missed medical appointments and undelivered Christmas cards due to the difficulties according to residents in the Derry City and Strabane council area.
