More than a billion people may own an iPhone worldwide, but that is apparently not a prerequisite for criticising the way Apple does its business. The Court of Appeal of England and Wales today dismissed Apple’s bid to invalidate Justin Gutmann’s £853 million class action against it for allegedly covering up faulty iPhone batteries on the basis that he did not own an iPhone during the claim period, finding that argument “lacked merit”. Also in The Briefing, Royal Mail faces another multi-million-pound UK class action and an Australian judge hints at a ruling date in Epic Games’ lawsuits against Apple and Google.
