Post Office bosses have explained the closure of a branch in Nuneaton. In what has been described as a ‘unplanned closure’, the Tomkinson Road Post Office has shut its doors.
In a statement, the Post Office explained that the postmaster had resigned. It adds that they do hope to reinstate the service locally.
A Post Office spokesperson said: “Tomkinson Road Post Office temporarily closed on Thursday 20 June, due to the resignation of the Postmaster,” the statement reads. “We apologise for any inconvenience caused by the unplanned closure of this branch.
“We are working hard to keep any period of closure to a minimum and we are currently investigating the options available which will enable us to reinstate a Post Office service to the local community.”

The statement concluded that customers can access services nearby. “In the interim alternative branches include Heath End Road which is 0.7 miles away and Nuneaton which is a mile away,” it concluded.
The Tomkinson Road branch was based inside Drinks Corner, on the corner of Tomkinson Road and Granby Road. It moved there in 2020 after the previous branch, which was based just yards away on the corner of Tomkinson Road and Clifton Road closed.
